RPh, Owner, Pharmacist
Dan was born and raised in Mooers Forks, and he currently resides in Cumberland Head, with his wife, halfway between his two stores in Keeseville and Rouses Point. He went to high school at Northern Adirondack Central School, and attended college at Albany College of Pharmacy. After owning and operating Keeseville Pharmacy for a few years, Dan decided to open Cornerstone Drug & Gift in Rouses Point, and to build the business from the ground up. He watched the lot go from an open meadow of long grass and brush in fall of 2004, to an operating store in spring of 2005.
As the store owner and a member of the pharmacist team, Dan has many duties. On a normal day Dan oversees all prescriptions that come into and out of Cornerstone; answering customer and doctor questions, calling insurance companies, filling prescriptions, and counseling patients. Dan also oversees new products coming into the store.
When asked what his favorite part of the job is, he quickly responds that he loves customer interaction! Dan grew up 15-20 miles away from the store, so he either knows or is related to most of our customers; conversing with people is what he is extremely good at and enjoys.
In his free time, Dan enjoys golfing, playing indoor soccer, cooking on the grill, watching New England Patriot’s football, and listening to audible books. Dan also enjoys fine dining and trying new and different foods, funky stuff, ethnic foods like Chinese, Mexican, Thai, Himalayan, Indian, Italian, and anything on the grill. Dan and his wife are big animal lovers, especially dogs and have recently grown fond of cats as well.
RPh, Supervising Pharmacist
Jason was born and raised in Champlain, NY where he graduated from NCCS in 1993. He majored in chemistry at SUNY Plattsburgh before transferring to Albany College of Pharmacy to pursue a degree in pharmacy. After graduating from pharmacy school in 1999, Jason worked in both chain and independent pharmacies, including Harrison’s Pharmacy in Rouses Point before it closed. He credits his experience at Harrisons for teaching him the importance of establishing a relationship with each patient in order to best identify and meet their needs. It also made him realize that independent pharmacy is where he belongs and wants to spend the rest of his pharmacy career.
Jason began working at Cornerstone Drug & Gift in January 2006, less than one year after it opened. As the supervising pharmacist Jason’s job is to manage the pharmacy staff and daily operations of the pharmacy. Along with acting as a pharmacist, he is also responsible for duties such as staff scheduling, inventory management, implementing new policies, and making sure that the pharmacy is in compliance with all of the rules and regulations governing pharmacy practice.
When someone asks Jason what his favorite part of his job is, he proudly states that it is connecting with his patients. He finds it very rewarding to be able to take the time to listen and talk to patients, identify a problem or concern that they may have and make recommendations to help them resolve the issue. It puts a smile on his face to know that he has helped someone.
Jason lives in Rouses Point with his wife and two children. In his free time, Jason enjoys spending time doing anything with his family. Being around family and socializing with friends is very important to him. He likes to stay active (running, biking, hiking) and also likes to travel, attend concerts, and play poker.
Rebecca has been a part of the Cornerstone family since the store opened in March 2005. Rebecca began working in the pharmacy industry at age 16 at Harrison’s Pharmacy in Rouses Point. She graduated from NCCS in 2003, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from SUNY Plattsburgh.
As the operations manager of the store, Rebecca’s job duties cover a wide variety of tasks. The biggest of these tasks is helping the owner with whatever needs to be done to operate the business, including many projects. She also manages the accounts receivable and payable, and takes care of human resources. Rebecca knows how to do just about everything in the store, so on any day you may see her up front blowing up balloons, then working the register in the pharmacy, and ending the day working in the office making sure all of our accounts are updated.
Rebecca’s favorite part of the job is meeting new customers, and seeing our regular customers and hearing about their lives. Since Rebecca has lived and worked in Rouses Point for her whole life, she has personal connections with many of our customers and cares about them as if they were family; she fondly talks about how she has watched many children in the village grow up because she has seen them coming in the store with their parents since they were young. Rebecca is always willing to do whatever she can to help a customer solve their problem and make their life easier.
In her free time, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family and friends. As the oldest of five children, Rebecca has a large family with whom she enjoys spending many weekends and holidays.
